Not that we’ll see teams stay together for 4-5 season and grow into something special but it is interesting how the “older” players are getting back in style. Obviously, the earning potential is incentive enough for them to want to hang around, but I feel like there been a sizable shift toward the best teams being older ones. Coaches are valuing the experienced portal players more than the top high school recruits. For example, Penn State’s 2022 class had significant freshman production. Not nearly the same this past season and I wouldn’t expect it to change much this coming year. That’s not to say they aren’t bringing in talent, but the talent gets more time to develop the way the system currently works.
