Beamer seems like the natural fit at Virginia Tech, but it seems South Carolina is too good to just up and leave. If UCLA was really thinking out of the box, why not go for a big name like Jon Gruden? Maybe he could help Nico and bring people to the Rose Bowl.
Beamer at VTU makes so much sense until you consider how good he has at South Carolina. They're going to make a run at him, but I don't think it's going to happen no matter how much the fine folks of Virginia are trying to will it into existence.
For UCLA, I'm hearing they are looking to make a big move and Gruden would fall in line with some (granted, unconfirmed) rumors I'm hearing. To me, though, UCLA's job always comes down to money. Money to pay the coach and staff. And I don't think they have enough to lure a big name, but hats off to them for taking swings.
Someone will take the UCLA job because someone always takes a job. But that place has been a sinking ship for 20 years. Sad.
Hopefully they can pull in a Cignetti type to re-ignite the fan base, but that's much easier said than done.
